WordPress 3.7

Version 3.7 of WordPress, named “Basie” in honor of Count Basie, is now available. There are two notable changes in this release.

Automatic Updates

One the most notable changes is how you apply maintenance and security updates. In an effort to promote better security, and to streamline the update experience overall sites are now able to automatically apply these updates in the background.

By default, only minor releases – such as for maintenance and security purposes – and translation file updates are enabled.

Stronger Passwords

In an effort to assist in creating passwords that are complex, long, and unique WordPress has updated it’s password meter.

Since your password is one of the first lines of defense behind your username,  the system is programmed to recognize common mistakes that can weaken your password: dates, names, keyboard patterns (123456789), and even pop culture references.
